Fellatio is an oral sex act that involves the stimulation of the male penis using the mouth and tongue. Oral stimulation of the testicles or scrotum can also be done in fellatio. A common fellatio technique is done by taking the erect penis in the mouth and then rhythmically caressing the base of the penis and/or testicles.

Fellatio may be done as foreplay, or it may also be performed as its own sex act.

Depending on the preference of the partner, the male receiver may choose to delay ejaculation if the act is done as foreplay, or the male receiver may opt to ejaculate at the peak of the sex act. If the male receiver chooses to ejaculate inside his partner's mouth, the semen or cum may or may not be swallowed by the performer.

Other variants of fellatio includes irrumatio and deep throat. Irrumatio is similar to fellatio, but the male receiver is actively thrusting his penis into his parnter's mouth. This is often depicted in pornography as a male dominant behavior. Deep throat is a a form of variant of fellatio wherein the whole erect penis is taken into the mouth up to the throat. This can be very pleasurable for the male receiver because the penis is stimulated by the mouth, tongue and throat. This type of sex act can also be widely seen in pornographic movies. This is a difficult sex act because of the gag reflex. Very few people can actually deep throat a whole erect penis.
