Animal Sex is defined as the sexual activity between a human being and a non-human animal. Animal sex is synonymous with bestiality (sometimes spelled as beastiality). People who participate in these kinds of sexual activities are called zoophiles. Oftentimes, the word zoophilia is also used to describe this kind of behavior. Alhtough zoophilia as a term is synonymous with animal sex in the modern times, zoophilia actually means affinity for animals, not necessarily in a sexual way.
There is a limitation regarding the animals that can engage in animal sex. Certain animals cannot engaged in sexual activites with humans mainly because of biological and anatomical reasons. Zoophilic activities often include horse sex and dog sex but it is not limited to that. Cats, snakes and fishes are also used in sexual activities and in some occasions, cows, sheep and goats are also used. Birds such as goose and chicken (hens) are also used in rare occasions.

Legal Issues
Bestiality or animal sex is often prohibited in many countries. Some societies view bestiality as abuse and maltreatment to animals. Other cultural norms maintain that animal sex is a taboo and it should be illegal.
Animal sex is strictly illegal in most countries like Canada, United States and Australia. But in countries like Belgium, Russia and Germany, animal sex is permitted but animal sex in pornography is prohibited. Engaging in animal sex is legal in a few European countries namely Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Animal Sex in Arts, Fantasy and Mythology
Beast sex is immortalized in some of the greatest mythological characters. In Greek mythology, Zeus once appeared to Leda in a form of a swan and had a sexual encounter. Zeus also once transformed into a bull and seduced Europa. Pan, the god of shepherds and flocks is depicted as half goat and half man and often associated with animal sex. In Nordic mythology, Loki, a mythical being of mischief once transformed into a mare and had sex with a stallion.
Animal sex is also present in some literatures often showing an enchanted animal romantically involved with humans. The Disney film Beauty and the Beast features a young female character falling in love with a beast-like man. In A Midsummer Night's Dream of William Shakespeare, the character of Queen Titiana falls in love with man with a head of a donkey.
Animal Sex in Pornography
Zoophilic pornography is strictly illegal in many country especially in the United States. Bestiality porn is often imported from countries where animal sex is legal. Pornographic materials featuring bestiality is often produced in countries like Denmark and the Netherlands. It is imported to other countries and also widely available in the Internet.
Zoophilic pornography production is a significant industry in Hungary because there are no laws against its production and sale. In Japan, animal sex is sometimes used to bypass the censorship laws. Oral penetration of a non-human animal is not part of the Japanese censorship law so bestiality porn in Japan often feature Japanese and Russian female models giving fellatio on non-human animals. Brazil is also a major producer of zoophilic pornographic materials although it remains an underground industry in the country. Animal sex pornography in Brazil often features “she-males” engaging in bestiality.
Modes of Animal Sex
There are different modes of animal sex that zoophiles engage into. Similar to human to human sex, oral sex, vaginal penetration and anal penetration can also be performed between humans and non-human animals. Masturbation of horse and/or dog penis is also performed as well as human female masturbation using animals such as snake or fish. Drinking or swallowing the cum of animals, especially horses and dogs, is not an uncommon practice in animal sex.
Oral sex is common in animal sex. This is done by licking and sucking the genital area of either the animal or human participant. Human females usually perform oral sex to horses and dogs. Sucking a dog's penis is more common than sucking a horse's penis because of its innate huge size. Licking and masturbation is the more common practice with horse cocks. Once the horse or dog ejaculates, some female practitioners drink or swallow the animal semen. Some zoophiles even collect the horse cum to be placed in cups and drink it all up.
